1.05 – Toxic

Chapter tune: Air Supply – Making love out of nothing at all (or – even better – the Bonnie Tyler cover)

Warning: Mature themes/foul language

That night, when Jared returned from the bar, he found Molly waiting in his room.

“Whoa” he exclaimed “Nice. How did you get in?”. “Your brother let me baby, what did you think? I know you hate surprises, but I can make it up for you” Without delay, Jared grabbed her and led her to bed.

She was always the best sex he ever had, that woman surely knew how to please a man. That’s the reason he still kept those encounters with her, even though she had become a bit clingy and boresome lately. Plus, she was his boss at the bistro so it wouldn’t be the easiest thing to get rid of her and keep his job. His goal to become a five-star chef would be unattainable. He was not an ambitious man really but everyone is entitled to their dreams, right? For now everything in his life went smoothly, and in case she became totally insufferable, he would deal with that problem then.

Afterwards, Molly stayed a little to chat:

“So… I wanted to talk to you about the new girl, Rose.” Molly began the conversation reluctantly. “What about her?” Jared asked. “Look, I know what you are trying to do with her, but maybe it’s not such a great idea to do it.” Molly replied.

“I don’t like where this is going. I believe we had a deal, never interfere in anyone’s business. I stay out of yours and you stay out of mine. Did you think we had any kind of relationship apart from the obvious one?” Jared hissed, apparently annoyed by this, as he perceived it, attempt of control.

“Oh no, I didn’t mean it like that” Molly tried to hide her disappointment “What I meant was that it will be impossible to woo her, I heard the girls talking one day and it seems that she is completely inexperienced, if you know what I mean. And waiting for the one. So don’t waste your time with her.” Molly hoped that this little detail would eliminate his interest in Rose.

But Jared was anything but disenheartened. Really? he thought. Sleeping with a virgin is at the top on my list. “Well, I could be the one to make her first experience unforgettable” he said smugly.

“No” Molly whispered “why won’t you leave the poor girl alone? Wouldn’t you rather have more fun with me?”

Despite Molly’s – admittedly poor- efforts to hide it, Jared knew that she was jealous. He couldn’t put up being controlled so he got up and started yelling at her.

“Don’t think that I don’t know what you are doing Molly. You’re jealous and I won’t have it. I won’t have another Claire in my life, one was more than enough!”

“Way to talk to your boss! You really want to go work at the diner mon ami, and flip burgers along with that loser, Beau Andrews? Be my guest!” Molly attacked.

“Oh so now you’re playing the boss card, how original! And again with the diner!! I swear Molly, say it one more time and I will burn that fucking place to the ground!” he screamed, apparently not caring that his brother was sleeping in the next room. “You know what, I can’t deal with you anymore tonight. Thanks for the services, now get out!”

Molly was mortified. Jared could be really mean, and always knew how to hurt someone’s feelings bad. But she realized that she couldn’t win behaving like that, so she decided to leave it there for now. The truth is, it wasn’t the first time Jared was getting distracted by another woman during the course of their – informal – relationship, but something in his look when he talked to Rose really bothered her. Not that Molly wanted to marry him or anything. He was not the kind of man to rely on or take care of her and her daughter. And he certainly was not the kind of man she would usually fall for. But he held some kind of power over her that she couldn’t explain. And that little goody two shoes, why did she have to come to Sunset Valley of all places? Her thought process was not at its best tonight. “Alors, c’est la guerre” she said while driving away.

PS: I’m sorry that this chapter was a bit short! Also, no Rose in this one, I wanted to show the kind of relationship Molly and Jared have. Thanks for reading! 🙂

  1. Oh, that’s harsh. Especially when I played Claire for so long.
Rose could be like a plasticine in Jared’s hands and I wonder if it’s a story where he changes for her? But if not, then it’s not going to be very happy around here.

    1. I think I played Claire once, but I couldn’t get her and Jared to reconcile (she’s a hothead too) by any means lol 🙂 I can’t exactly say how all this will end, but some tough situations are ahead! 🙂

      1. No, don’t get me wrong, they hated each other in my game and I started to hate Jared deeply as well. When I once went to his and Madison’s house, she was checking her looks in the mirror, the newborn was on the floor and Jared approached her from behind to scare her. Lol.

          1. I think I turned the whole Sunset Valley upside down as Hilary, who was Claire’s daughter, got with Malcolm Landgraab because she was hoping on bringing funds to the family as they got married. She eventually fell in love and Malcom even later lost weight and she told everything her mother, but Malcolm eavesdropped not enough and he split with her and then married some other woman. They still longed for each other after, when Hilary escaped from home and barely made a living (also used her mother’s money she stole to do herself some nice boobs). Then she died as she wasn’t careful while crossing the road. And so Malcolm killed himself, Claire mourned and only Jared stayed happy with his messed up family with two daughters and Madison he never proposed to. I’m totally messed up- so watch out while reading my stories, lol.

  2. Jared sure has a temper 0.0 I’m liking him less and less as the chapters go on. Although I don’t like Molly as well, I do feel sorry for her. I hope she breaks up with him soon because he seems to be nothing but a bad influence… and I hope that we can see Jared change his attitude because I don’t want to see Rose get hurt!
I’m happy I found your story, I’ve been trying to find more so it’s great to find a good new one to follow ❤ I can't wait to see what happens next 🙂

  3. Well, now we know how things really are between Jared and Molly – not good, really. At this point I seriously hope Rose will listen to her friends… She’s so sweet and innocent, she doesn’t need any more pain after all she’s been through. Rose needs someone who will truly love and cherish her.

  4. Wow, I was wondering how Molly could be so chill with Jared clearly attempting to pursue another girl at the beginning of the chapter, but you mentioned at the end that despite being mean or distracted, he has a kind of hold on her. That must be tough…

    1. Yes, they do not have a good relationship. She thinks she needs him for some reason and she uses the boss leverage to hold onto him while he never passes the opportunity to humiliate her when he thinks she’s controlling or when he has gotten what he wants from her. Not a good relationship at all! :/

  5. Jared really is quite rude! I don’t really like Molly too, but with the way he’s treating her, I’m starting to feel sorry for her… If this is how he acts to Molly, who’s to say he will act just like that to Rose if she ever falls for him (which I really hope she doesn’t!).

    1. Hmmm, she will fall for him, I can tell you that! 😉 Molly is not the nicest woman there is, but nobody should be treated that way, you’re right!
Thank you for reading and commenting! 😁

    1. Well, it’s just a carnal thing they have – at least as far as Jared is concerned. So he comes and goes as he pleases and Molly just takes it. But a third person can always stir things up – and not in a good way lol!

  6. Oy vey. What a temper. I kind of want to start protecting Rose from him, but then something tells me it’s not gonna be possible to keep these two apart.

  7. Yeah he woos her just for making him climbing as 5 star cooker. Because she’s powerful and he a looser cooker ahha. To take lesson of cooking he doesn’t really talented at first.

    1. Hmmm…maybe those cooking lessons will help him with more than cooking eventually! 😉
I think he’s talented (one of his traits is natural cook), but really lazy so he’d much rather do some lessons than actually work! 😂

  8. Oh okay, maybe I was wrong and he’s just really awful! Sort of feel bad for Molly, but she seems to really want to be with him! I hope he straightens out a lot if he’s going to end up with either of them!

    1. Oooh, agreed – he’s just awful! I kinda felt bad for Molly too – she’s his boss and even she can’t get him to behave straight.(Right now I’m preparing a sort of AU story with him and he’s even worse if you can believe it XD)

      1. Hahaa, oh wow I actually don’t think I can imagine him being any worse! He is so hot and cold, I don’t know if I should hate him or give him a chance LOL
