1.34 – Finale

Chapter tune: Meat Loaf – For crying out loud

Bitter. Angry. Resentful. …Broken.

This would be him from now on. This would be life without her.

The only person who could possibly understand, would now be sinking into his own dark pit of insanity; the one she had rescued him from. But this time there would be no turning back.

And him… without her, it wouldn’t be long until he turned into his own shell of a man, finding comfort in nobody and nothing; except for completely surrendering himself to his eternal demons.

After all, there could be no escaping his father’s curse.

The memories of her would haunt him forever, the happiest ones being the most painful of all.

He remembered the first time he ever laid his eyes on her. He wouldn’t admit it, but even then, he knew there was something different about her.

He remembered the taste of her lips when they almost kissed that very first time he came into her house – their house. The day he began falling for her.

The way she looked at him, like he was the most important man in the world; even though most of the times he had been a selfish bastard.

Every time they made love; that no matter how tired he was at the end of each day, his whole body would wake up as soon as his skin touched hers.

How beautiful and happy she looked at their wedding, when he swore he would always love, cherish and protect her, a promise now broken.

How beautiful she was throughout all their years together.

But, apart from her beauty and kindness, he loved her for so much more. For so many little things, most of which he ended up taking for granted.

He loved the way she still got excited whenever her dad shared a story from his past with them.

He loved how she was humming old french songs whenever she made dessert.

The fact that she always treated his daughter Emily like she was her own.

The way she smiled every time she was in their kitchen, baking their kids’ favorite cookies.

The sound she made when she got into bed and closed her eyes, and the way she would curl up against him – even when she was asleep.

He loved that, even now, after all these years of marriage, the smell of her hair was still able to drive him over the edge.

Even now… except for there wouldn’t be anymore now.

I’m sorry baby… sorry for everything.

Those seconds felt like his life was ending together with hers. Every little moment flashed before his eyes, along with the hell he would be forced to live in if she didn’t exist in this world anymore.

He tilted his head backwards. The phone kept ringing. Time for the truth.

“Hello?” he whispered, short of breath.

“Jared..?”

“Rose…? Is that you?”

“Yes… I’m so sorry, did I wake you up?”

“Baby, I heard the news! I tried calling you! Are you ok?”

“I’m fine, but I crashed my car… I couldn’t see much, and I drove it outside the road. Oh Jared, I was so scared… I’m still shaking. Thankfully it stopped at the edge of an empty lot . And my phone’s battery died… I’m calling you from a gas station that was nearby”

“Fuck, I thought… it doesn’t matter. Are you sure you’re not hurt? Where are you? I’m coming to pick you up!”

“Yes, I’m fine. I don’t know where it is exactly… there is a bar or pub on the other side of the road. There’s something like a rooster on the sign”

“I know where it is. Just stay there, ok? I’m coming to get you baby”

Jared drove as fast as he could, although the weather did not exactly help. But it was time for that car he bought to prove useful for once.

About half an hour later, he arrived at the gas station.

There she was, the love of his life.

She was wet, sleepless and worn out, but to him she looked more beautiful than ever.

It had been one hellish day, but just the thought of losing her forever, of walking this world without her was able to crush him. The relief that came from realizing that there could still be time for them – if she would have him – only made the lump in his throat stronger. He broke down in tears right then and there.

It was the very first time since they met that Rose ever saw him cry.

“Please forgive me baby…” he sobbed “I don’t know what I’d do if you… I love you,  I’m nothing without you…”

Rose looked down at him. She already knew he never cheated on her. She knew he loved her more than anything. She knew him like that. Still, this breakdown had managed to amaze her.

She rushed towards him, not minding that her clothes would get all wet and filthy. It pained her to see him like this. He was her everything too, even if sometimes he was far from perfect. But in the long term, he had been more than good to her. He had his demons, she knew that from the start. But it was nothing she couldn’t handle by now.

“Shhh…” she comforted him “it’s ok… I’m here.”

“Baby, I thought I lost you forever” he said as soon as he calmed down “I was a jackass, I know that… You were right about Mia, about everything. But nothing happened, I swear. Please forgive me Rose… I love you, you’re my whole life”

“I believe you” she said softly “and I still believe in you. I don’t want to break up, I love you so much, you know I do… But I needed you, the kids needed you too. And you weren’t there… I need you to be present. If for any reason you can’t do that, I want to know it now.”

“Baby, I’m never going to risk losing you again. You’re everything I need, nothing compares…” he replied.

They didn’t need to say anything more.

At home, everything went back to normal fairly quickly. It took some time for Rose to completely trust him again, but they got there. Calla was happy to have her dad regularly at home again.

Jesse was the difficult one, not even expressing his feelings. He just shrugged everytime Jared attempted to make conversation. But both he and Rose were certain he’d come around sooner or later.

Jared stopped his press appearances – although journalists were still calling – but he made his last one together with Rose. That was the only image he wanted to share with the world.

Sugar & Spice.jpg

The restaurant was doing great at last, so he was able to cut down his work hours.

His relationship with Rose couldn’t get any better. He kept his promise and never gave her any reason to be unhappy. Quite the opposite.

It was like those first years of their marriage. They were madly in love again, spending as much time as possible together. They were even suprising each other at work during their breaks.

“Baby” he said one day while visiting her at the bakery “you’ve never asked me what I did with all that money I made during that whole celebrity chef period”

They had finally reached a point where they could almost joke about it.

“Apart from buying that ridiculously expensive car?” she smiled “But you sold it so I guess it doesn’t count. I don’t know, I thought you threw everything into the business”

“No, babe, it was a lot more than what the business needed. I kept a part of it of course, but I used the rest to get you a present… It wasn’t an impulse buy, I thought about it a lot. Well, I bought us a vacation house at Champs Les Sims… we can go there whenever you like.”

This was like a dream come true for Rose. Jared had managed to amaze her once more.

However, she realized that her life was pretty much great as it was at this point. Not that a little extra something wouldn’t be well received, but still.

She had an amazing family with the only man she ever loved who, although not perfect, was trying his best to be. A man who loved her just as much, maybe even more. A man who still, after all these years, gave her butterflies in the stomach.

And to think how it all began…

There was a point in her life when family was nothing but wishful thinking. However, he made it happen. They made it together. Eventually, in all its ups and downs, life had been generous to her.

Now she only wished it would be equally generous to her children as well.

But, that’s another story.

PS: So… that’s it..! “Smoke ‘n’ Roses” aka Generation 1 has finally reached its final chapter! πŸ˜„πŸŽ‰ And I realized that I’m posting this exactly six months after I made that blog and posted the first chapter! How time flies lol! I really hope you liked this story, and the ending! ❀  Now it’s time for Generation 2 and I’m pretty psyched about it! Thank you all so much for every lovely comment you’ve ever given me, I really appreciate each and every one of them! Writing this wouldn’t be half as fun without them! Thank you so much for reading! πŸ™‚ ❀

  1. Aww, what an emotional ending! I just knew that everything would end well- you love your characters too much to let go of them like that. Gosh, I almost screamed when I saw Fidelio had 5 days left 😨 So I got it to 5 more and turned off the aging. Because I need him for the story.
Funny, I just thought about your new chapter today, opened my reader and it was there. Generation 1 finale! How time flies. And to think I was there practically from the very beginning of your adventure. I’m so glad and proud of you for getting this far. I just checked, my generation 1 lasted approximately 5 months, with its epilogue, prologue, bonus and 22 chapters. Yours is a couple of chapters longer, so I could say it took us about as much. I loved seeing Rose and Jared’s romance developing throughout the years and now I’m eager to see what’s in store for Jesse (as he’s the heir, right?). “Darker Skies” sounds like another terrific story. Here’s to another amazing generation! ❀️

    1. Awww thank you so much!! ❀ And thank you for all your kind words and support from the very beginning, you are so awesome!
You were right too, I couldn't bare to give those two a bad ending..! Now about the next generations… we'll see! 😈 Oh man, I guess I can't deny it, Jesse is the heir (although I wanted it to be surprise lol)!
Darker Skies might be juust a tad darker lol! I really hope you'll like it! Thank you so much again! ❀ ❀

                1. You’re doing a great job so far, believe me! πŸ™‚ As for the words, I know it’s a pain… oh how many times I’ve gone editing a chapter because I saw those tiny mistakes after I published it..!
I’m so sorry to read that you’re sick…Is it the flu? I hope you’ll feel better soon!

  2. This was amazing! I was so upset at the beginning, thinking about Jared without Rose. I ship them so much, it was heartbreaking to think she had died. And then I thought about Jared’s relationship with Jesse and how disastrous it would be since I was sure he would blame Jared for his mother’s death. I was close to tears. πŸ˜₯

Then, you brought it completely around and I was soooo happy! What a relief!

This has been such a great generation! And I really love how you ended it, too. I can’t wait for Gen 2!

    1. Thank you so much!! ^_^ ❀ Hehe, that was the plan… πŸ˜‰ I remember a couple of months ago I was thinking about really killing Rose off at some point and then Jared would become like his dad etc… I was so upset, I decided I couldn't do it, but that way I think I managed to show a glimpse of what could happen πŸ™‚
Jesse will not forget it easily but let's hope he'll get there πŸ™‚
Thank you again so much for your comment (and all your lovely comments)! ❀

  3. Awww what a sweet ending! I couldn’t bear the thought of Rose dying so I’m glad she’s still around! Sooo relieved that Jared realized how much she means to him and how their relationship is improving once again. I can’t wait for gen 2 ❀️

    1. Thank you so much! ❀ I couldn't bear that thought either, they've been through so much already..!
You know what, I can't wait either!! πŸ˜„ I'll post an introduction chapter first, kind of like I did with Rose, so hopefully it won't take long! ^_^

  4. I’m so happy Rose made it out alive! I was genuinely expecting her to be dead, so this was a lovely surprise. In fact, this whole chapter was lovely- it’s wonderful to see Rose and Jared falling in love all over again.

Here’s to Generation Two! I can’t wait to see what Jesse has in store for us.

              1. Good because old generations are important a good legalicy to me is not only to focus on the current generation it’s to speak to the whole family.

                    1. I never used to play with premades but they’re great indeed! I used to fill the worlds with sims of my own, but at one point I realized I used the same trait combos over and over. Now I love playing with premades, because some of them are really unexpected! πŸ˜€

                    2. Playing with your own sims as well they are unexpected but if you choose the same traits combo it could be so annoying. My sims I created has got divided into several groups and some of them are negative, some of them positive and some of them balanced. Indeed if you are not what you choose as personality traits better play with premades. Sometimes I myself don’t know how to choose as traits.

  6. YOU SCARED ME FOR A MOMENT THERE! I was like what!? She can’t have possibly killed Rose for real!
But I’m so so glad that she’s alive and well. This was such a sweet chapter πŸ’• I’m kinda glad for the whole celebrity chef fiasco plus the crash. It lead to a renewed love and I am sure Jared has learned his lesson for good.
It’s been a wonderful first generation! Congratulations on six months. I’m super excited to see what you have in store for Gen 2! 😊

    1. I’m so sorry!! Lol! I could never do it, I love those two so much..! You’re right, Jared strayed a little but you bet he’s learned his lesson now. He’s not gonna be a problem anymore (can’t say the same for his son though lol)!
I really hope you’ll like Gen 2! Thank you so much for your comment (and for all your incredibly sweet comments, I’m always looking forward to them)! ❀

  7. Happy 6 months~ Girl, I was scared something happened to Rose, I would have been furious – the flashbacks at the beginning were especially worrisome XD Having been with this story since almost the beginning, it’s been such a joy going on this journey, falling in love with these characters and seeing them change. This chapter was extremely satisfying in providing adorable photos and moments, it’s great that Rose and Jared were able to ignite a new spark in their relationship ❀️ I feel at peace and excited for gen 2 now knowing their chapter closes on a great note~ can’t wait to see what’s to come πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you so much!! ❀ And I'm so sorry!! Lol, I would have been furious at myself too! I can't touch those two! ❀ I have debated in the past whether I should kill Rose off or not, but in the end I wanted to give them a happy ending πŸ™‚
I'm so glad you liked the story, the characters and the ending, and I'm so happy you're excited about gen 2… I know I am too! Thank you for all your lovely comments, I always appreciate them so much! ❀ ❀

  8. This chapter has been a roller coaster of emotion.
I was devastated at first for Jared. How could he live without Rose? More than anything I didn’t want him to become his father.
Rose is going to be fine, but it is not all happy ending. Jesse is pretty upset about what his father did (and he has every right to feel this way).
And I love the last picture of Rose and Jared at the beach. I can’t wait to see what the next generation brings!! πŸ™‚

    1. Yes, Jared could never live without Rose. The fact that he changed everything about him just for her – even with the occasional setbacks – shows how much he loves her. I really wanted them to have a good ending ❀
But you are right about Jesse, what happened is going to leave a mark on him and further strain his relationship with his dad. Let's hope the damage can be repaired πŸ™‚
I really hope you'll like the next generation! πŸ˜€ Thank you so much for your sweet comment! ❀ ❀

  9. I thought for sure you were going to kill off your founder there! But that would have been a bit harsh, especially under those circumstances. What can I say though, I’ve become accustomed to lots of drama in legacies. So glad you chose the happy ending, though. It was a sweet story. Now onto the next generation for me πŸ™‚

    1. It would have been harsh. I did consider it initially, but I just couldn’t bare the thought of it! I guess I chose the easy way out, lol! They deserved a happy ending πŸ™‚
Thank you so much, I hope you’ll like generation 2 too (although Jesse is a handful, dare I say even more so than Jared! Lol) πŸ˜€

  10. I swear you almost had me when you were reminiscing when Jared thought Rose died. The tears were ready to fall! I’m so glad things worked out for them. The magazine cover was so cute and I liked how they included Rose’s strawberry pie recipe. Time to continue reading so I can find out what happens with Calla and Jesse.

    1. Hehe, I could never do it!! I considered it in the past, when I was thinking about the ending, but it would have been too awful! The flashbacks served two purposes really: make everyone think she died, and say a farewell to this generation *sobs*
Lol, I liked that bit about Rose’s strawberry pie too, she became quite known for it after all ❀

  11. I finally caught up with this generation! It’s a great read while I’m working! πŸ˜€ I really enjoyed reading your story. I’ve caught some chapters in generation 2 but haven’t really been able to sit down and read through each one, but now that I have time to, I definitely will be doing that! Great job! ❀

    1. Awww thank you so much! πŸ˜€ I really appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment and I am very happy you liked the first generation! ^_^ I have to warn you about the second one though: it’s taken a slightly(?) darker tone than the first one, but that’s a mistake I won’t repeat in my third generation! πŸ˜‰
I’ve been meaning to read your story for so long too, and now I have so much more time than before to do that – so I’ll do it, hehe!
Again, thank you so much for your lovely comment! ❀ πŸ˜€

      1. Sometimes a darker turn in stories is the best option. πŸ˜‰ I’m sure it will still be equally as good as gen 1, if not better. Awesome, thanks! I can’t wait for you to read it!

  12. I’m so glad I managed to catch up with Rose’s story. I installed the Bistro set from the store because of Jared’s restaurante and I may add a Myrtle to my Sunset Valley eventually.
All in all, I loved the story. I myself would have dumped Jared a long time ago, but it’s nice that he’s the kind of crooked guy that has a real good side. That scene with Mia was a little tense, though. I may give the story a break so as to catch up with others and I hope to read all about the second generation by the end of the year. Please, don’t delete your blog.
    Wish you the Best.~

    1. Ooh, if you have the bistro set from the store, you might enjoy Ani’s “Business as unusual” mod – it’s awesome! And if you need miss Myrtle for your SV, I can upload her for you – I think she has no cc whatsoever! πŸ™‚
Hehe, I hear you – I would have dumped Jared myself too lol! I loooove drama in stories but I hate it irl – I would have sent his @$$ home as soon as he started his shenanigans, lol!
Thank you soooo much for catching up and your comments! πŸ˜€ I have to warn you about the second gen though, unfortunately it’s gotten much darker than the first, so feel free to skip that one if it’s not your cup of tea – I haven’t started my 3rd, but I plan it to be more romantic and carefree than the second one and I plan to start it soon-ish! πŸ˜‰
Aww, I could never delete my blog – even if I gave up on writing, I would never do that! πŸ™‚
