Hey guyssss!… Long time no see, huh? *runs away shamefully and then comes back with even more shame* 😶
First of all, I wanted to apologize for my lack of updates, when I promised I’d have a chapter ready last week… So now, as you may have guessed, I’m about to ramble and explain all the reasons why the chapter hasn’t happened yet. Please bare with me!
Although I have already written most of the next chapter and the one after that, the one thing that’s missing are the pictures. And I haven’t gotten around to taking those because honestly, I didn’t even wanna open up my game lately. I just did it once, set up some scenes, took a couple of pictures and then I loaded a new small world (more on that later) just for testing. The reason for this? The lag, man! That darn lag has gotten so bad, that it ruins the whole experience! 😥 It doesn’t help that the current story setting is taking place in Bridgeport, and it certainly doesn’t help that I have loaded my game with a whole bunch of cc… So I swear: when I get back from my summer vacations, I plan to convert almost everything into packages, and definitely merge a good amount of package files into big ones. I think I need two programs for that (CC Magic and another one which I can’t remember what it’s called). I hope this will help because I’m desperate for some smooth gameplay again! 😣
Okay, rambling’s over 😉 So, I did manage to play around for an hour or so and test a brand new awesome small-to-medium world named Boroughsburg, because it got me really excited as soon as I saw it. And remember a certain story I was talking about in the past? Well, this world has the perfect feel for it. Of course the story is far from being ready yet (I am still very much invested in my legacy and if I do this I want it to be perfect), but it is totally on the table and in little notes here and there. So I decided to make a photoshoot of three of the main characters (two of which may seem kind of familiar 😉):
Shocking, huh? 😛 The gentleman(?!) in the middle is a bit edited out, please feel free to share your opinion of him (of anyone and anything really)!
Sooo this is what I wanted to talk about. I know that an update like that can’t replace a chapter, but I wanted to share those pictures with you guys 🙂 Also, since I’m on a faraway greek island now and the signal for using my data is usually crap, it might take longer for me to properly read your updates (I tried to read a couple but the pictures took a century to load) and comment. I’ll try but I might be a bit slower than usual. So I’m sorry in advance for this, but I’ll definitely comment – be sure of that! 😉

CC Magic is the only one you need I think! I recently began using it and boy is it much more convenient than manually merging.
Ooh, when I saw Boroughsburg on Tumblr I got super excited and tried it immediately! I don’t have any use for it rip but it’s so cool to see someone here use it. Great photoshoot, a scandalous one at that though (Jared what the heck?!) 😮

Yes, it has become almost unplayable 😭 – but I’m gonna beat it, lol! I’ll def use CC Magic; I have zero experience with it, but how hard can it be? I’m so relieved to learn it actually works though 🙂
As soon as I saw that world, I knew it was the one I wanted for that story – most of it was planned for a Brooklyn-like area anyway 😉 I can’t wait to get started with it!

Oh. Sorry about your game, I have never tried CC magic, I merge my files manually, but rarely as I need to know about everything I have in my game.
BTW, the pictures usually load in Reader even with faint WiFi signal 🙂
Well, I wish a swift recovery to your game and can’t wait for the new story. But Jared… Uh.

I feel like at this point I have no other choice but to use it 😕 If it smooths out my game then it’s definitely worth my time!
They usually do for me too, but the signal is usually non-existent… but I’m slowly learning the spots that have some 😉

Take your time! The lag really can be discouraging from taking pictures. I have my entire next chapter written, just haven’t bothered trying to take the pictures yet. I’m sure being on a remote greek island doesn’t help either lol
And gosh Jared, two women? Shame. But not surprising. I’d love to read a spin off story about this, it sounds so intriguing and full of drama

I’ve seen Boroughbourg doing the rounds on tumblr! I just want the city feel, so I may use it as a set. It looks gorgeous.
As for lag – I don’t know how much this will apply to you, but for me set building is literally the best thing. I’m currently setting up the 64×64 world with the majority of the sets I need for the last leg of this gen. It has the cafe that is beneath their apartment, their apartment, Chase’s living room where he Skypes Law from, Kane and Jas’ new house, Law’s Lab, and then the outside of the apartment block and shops beneath (so that it looks more realistic when I take outside shots of the city street) all on different lots. I think if there’s places you’re going to use a lot, doing it that way is far easier. Now you may already be doing this, so ignore me if that’s the case. I just treat SOL like a film set.
Also, after making your stuff into packages (which I believe can be done to anything except patterns?) I’d advise you get a bulk renamer and take out spaces, symbols, all that stuff. That certainly helps my game! I don’t actually merge anything so I have nothing to add there, haha.

I totally love that world! It’s relatively small but it feels like a big city – that backdrop is genius!
Set building is so clever! I don’t know if I could pull it off, mainly because I’m a terrible builder myself, but I might as well give it a try 🙂 Simlit does have a resemblance to shooting a film, so that’s some good logic there! 😉
Yeah, I’ve heard about patterns as well, so that’s the only thing I will avoid converting (and probably lots and sims with cc attached to them)! Hmmm I’ll check that bulk renamer out, thank you so much for your advice! ❤

I can take some photos of my set up at some point if you wanted. I’m pretty atrocious at the outside of sets, but I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve!

Don’t worry about the chapter, friend 🙂 We can always wait and I think everyone here has tried a laggy game. Your plan for CC sounds like a sound one! I absolute loathe the launcher and use it as little as possible. I assume you have Nraas mods as well? 🙂 For my photoshoot worlds I always disable stuff like stray/wild animals (honestly, I just disabled the pets expansion altogether, ’cause I don’t use it), tourists and so on 🙂 That’s something to look into!
That photoshoot is *gorgeous* though! Such lovely pictures, especially the last one with the view over the water ❤ Ah, but Jared, that Jared… I wonder what the story is. An AU maybe? Because I would be super down for an AU 😀 that new world looks gorgeous, btw. Would be pretty cool to have a city world for the future, so maaaybe 🙂

I hope my plan helps and my game runs smoothly again, I’ve missed that lol! That world is just ❤❤ And most of thd buildings are shells or backdrop so it loads pretty fast (or so I've heard – for me it took a good half hour, lol)!

You’re welcome – those buggers can cause a fair amount of lag when they amble around getting stuck 😛 I have a whole host of things I do in my photoshoot towns before using them now – just to keep lag down.

Aww, it’s nice to see a post from you even if it’s not the chapter, which like the others have mentioned, is no trouble waiting for at all! ❤ 🙂 The sims would be so much more fun to play if it was free of all tech issues, glitches, and lagging, but sadly that is far from being the case, haha. I hope condensing the CC helps! I had Boroughsburg pinned for installation, but haven't gotten around to it yet~ it looks amazing though, your photos have me wanting to install it asap. I especially love the pics by the water 😀 Those are some steamy shots there 😉 I wonder how your new story shall compare to your current legacy, since those characters are indeed quite familiar, as is that player behavior… but again, no pressure! Yep, they are little pervy haha, but I wanted to feel the characters a bit more? Lmao! Yeah, let's go with that! 😂 Well, as Louise guessed, it will be some kind of alternate universe – different surnames, backstories etc… I don't know why, but when I thought of that story, those characters made the more sense for me to use – and so I will! 😉 I really hope it won't disappoint..!

Totally feel you about the lag. Opened my game last night for the first time in months and it took about 40 minutes to makeover one sim. 😳 But I’m afraid of merging my cc because what if I want to get rid of something later? 😂
I saw Burroughsburg on Tumblr and it does look like a great world! Is that an alternate universe Jared and Rose? :O

Yes! That’s exactly what I’m going through right now – so frustrating! 😥 I think I read somewhere that if you merge your cc your should keep a folder (with the same name as the merged file) containing the cc, so if you want to remove something, you remove it from the folder, then remerge and then finally replace the old file with the new one. Of course this requires some organizing skills which I’m not sure I even have, lol! 😁
I haven’t had the chance to play with it more than an hour, but it looks like a truly awesome world with lots of potential! 🙂 And yup, that’s indeed an alternate universe Jared and Rose – I just can’t seem to let those two go just yet! 😉 ❤
