Chapter tune: The Cranberries – Just my imagination

20180502_005433.jpg

While the sun was slowly setting, painting the sky its golden pink and violet hues, he finally emerged from the sea. As she watched him walking past the foamy waves lacing the shore, the calm ocean in the background perfectly reflecting the newly found serenity inside her, she knew. He was hers and she was his. Two hearts poured into each other, finally leveled, finally becoming one. She stepped closer and caressed him, flickering for a second by the touch of cold water on her skin as he swiftly took her into his arms, surprising her with the contrasting warmth he made her feel inside. She almost wished they remained like this forever, watching the sunset side by side and giving each other promises of everlasting love. This time though, everything would be true. They were finally together. Nothing would ever –

“Raina! Come down, lunch is ready!”

Great. So soon? Raina glanced at her clock. How much time had passed? She was certain it was only five minutes ago when she returned from school, began doing her homework and, not long after, drifted into one of her most cherished activities: picking up on the latest chapter of her current imaginary plot. This time it was a romantic scene of her two favorite characters from the book she had been reading every night for the past week. As interesting as it was, Raina thought it was lacking a little romance-wise, but this never was an issue her mind couldn’t easily fix.

She trotted down the stairs, something her mother was always trying to put an end to, with little to no success. In the dining room were her grandparents waiting for her, having served the usual abundance of mouthwatering dishes, something that didn’t happened only the few times they had to return to Sunset Valley.

The truth was, Skye never really got the hang of cooking, and most of the meals she prepared were on the verge of non-edible. Fortunately, since Rose sold the bakery and Jared left the restaurant management to his daughter Emily, they could both stay at Starlight Shores often enough to bridge that gap, as well as taking care of their granddaughter whenever Jesse was on tour and Skye was working on a new painting – which was admittedly very often, and could take from days to weeks.

“Grandma… Can I have some ice cream after I eat?”

“Sure sweetie, but you have to promise me you’ll eat at least half of what’s in your plate this time. You can’t live on ice cream alone. And if you eat as much, I promise I’ll give you a big piece of hot strawberry pie with some ice cream on the side. How does that sound?”

“Yay!! I promise, I promise!”

“Don’t you think we’re being too lenient sometimes? I think she should eat more regular food than pies and ice cream.” Skye chimed in softly, but giving her daughter a stern look.

Part of the reasoning for this kind of reaction was her underlying guilt that she wasn’t and couldn’t be a truly good mother. And it had a true basis, although her intentions were certainly good – unlike her own mother’s. As far as parenting went, Skye had always been struggling to find the way to do it right; motherhood never came naturally to her. She didn’t want her daughter to feel neglected like she had felt, but she also knew how terrifying a complete lack of freedom was, as she came to realize in her later years. So, the task of balancing her behavior towards Raina was challenging at best.

The most important part of her relationship with her daughter was that they never seemed to see things eye to eye. Raina was a sensitive, excitable, shy yet trusting child, who spent most part of the day in her room reading books – something she had learned to do alone by the time she was three years old – and who always saw the world through a rose-colored lens, a view very different from her own. In that aspect, she mostly resembled her grandmother Rose. So it wasn’t surprising that she kind of preferred her company; at least Skye thought so, leaving the greater part of her daughter’s upbringing to the care of her in-laws.

Nonetheless, the little girl’s eyes were glowing whenever she saw her parents around – especially her dad – which unfortunately did not happen as often as she’d like.

“Mom, I promise I’ll eat much more than half my plate” Raina said cheerfully “but pleeease please please let grandma give me some pie with ice cream after! Please?”

“Okay honey. As long as you keep your promise.”

“Yay!! Mom…When is dad coming home? I though you said he’d come back yesterday… I’ve missed him so much!”

“I know doll, we all did…” Jared replied, seeing Skye getting slightly worked up at the sound of Jesse’s – one more – delayed return “Well, he was supposed to return yesterday, but the tour got extended for juuust a couple of days. He should be home by tomorrow though.”

“Yay!! I can’t wait! Maybe we could all go to the park together when he comes back!”

“We could definitely do that sweetheart” Jared smiled at his granddaughter.

After some seconds of serious and deep thought, Raina, once again, turned to her mother. “…Mom…?”

“What is it honey?”

“Can I go to the park with Charlie and Allison after I eat?”

“Have you done all your homework? I don’t want your teacher telling me you’ve been slacking again.”

“Mom, I wasn’t slacking! She always gives us the same things to do everyday and it’s boring.”

“Raina Rosalie Frio. Have. You. Done. All. Your. Homework?”

“Not all of it, but… I swear, I’ll finish it tomorrow! Please mom, it’s Friday!”

“I’ll tell you what, why don’t you invite them to come here and play with that new dollhouse your grandparents got you? I’ll call your aunt and Allison’s mom. But promise me that you’ll finish everything first thing tomorrow, and you’ll clean your room. Or you won’t play video games for a week.”

“Yay! I promise, I promise!”

After about half an hour, Calla arrived at the Frio residence with her daughter Charlotte – or Charlie, as the kid had nicknamed herself a few months back – as well as Edith Thorne, the mother of Raina’s new best friend Allison. The Thornes were new residents of the neighborhood. Edith’s husband William was the owner of a leading software company which had very recently moved its headquarters from Bridgeport to Starlight Shores. Besides Allison, a very sweet, studious girl and classmate of the two cousins, they had another kid named Andrew, a year older than his sister.

That afternoon, everyone was surprised to see Andrew at the door along with his mom and sister. The confusion dissolved as soon as Edith explained that he was grounded, but leaving him alone in his room would be something that he’d actually prefer; so it was decided that he would spend the afternoon with the company of the girls as punishment. The reason for him being grounded was a conversation he had with his teacher, after he raised his hand to ask her a not so standard question during the school lesson. The gist of their dialogue, according to both parties involved, went somewhat like this:

“It’s not in the curriculum, so don’t worry about it.”

“How does this answer my question?”

“It doesn’t, but it’s not important.”

“How is it not important? A question is a question and you’re here to help me learn.”

“But it’s not in the curriculum Andrew, so can we move on to the things you’re actually supposed to learn?”

“No. I’m curious and I want to know the answer to my question, which you clearly know nothing about and instead of admitting it, you resort to ridiculous justifications like the curriculum. I think it’s obvious you are unfit to be a teacher.”

Of course, it went without saying that she was not happy with that last part.

“At least you son wants to study and learn” Calla said, having listened to the story “All Charlotte wants to do is run outside and swear all day – thanks to one of our lovely neighbors. I thought maybe I could sign her up for some ballet classes, since she’s so athletic, but she flat out refused, stating it’s bull… I don’t even want to say it. Ugh, I have no idea what to do with that girl.”

“Well, at least your daughter is working out, so she’ll always have a great figure. Allison never does, and I fear with her love for food she’ll end up being fat. I can’t have my own daughter being fat. It’s bad enough she’s not top of her class.”

Calla and Skye didn’t comment on this but the truth was, they felt sorry for the little girl. Edith was a beautiful but extremely strict woman who expected nothing less than perfection from her two children. Andrew, having quite the strong personality himself, never payed too much attention to her, at least on the surface, but poor Allison would do everything she could to please her demanding mother – which was practically never.

“So, will you two bring your girls to the festival on Sunday?” Edith asked after a short pause. “I have already rented and set up the booths for them; one lemonade, one muffins. You should consider signing up your kids for next year too; in my opinion, it’s never too soon for them to learn how money is made, am I right?”

“Well… I don’t know” Skye replied “isn’t it important for kids to have a normal, carefree childhood? I wasn’t so lucky, you know, and it definitely took its toll on me. They have all their lives ahead to worry about things like work and money… I believe that right now their only responsibility should be to study, do their homework and occasionally clean their rooms.”

“Yeah… sorry Edith, but I have to agree with Skye here. I never worked once when I was a kid and I do have a great career behind me. And ahead of me.”

“Agreed, but think how much higher you could be standing now if you had worked since childhood.”

“I think head of a whole accounting department is high enough for my age, Edith, but thank you for your concern.” Calla spat. The nerve of that woman, to imply that she could have somehow done better in her life, seriously ground her gears.

“Oh relax, I didn’t mean to offend you! Who knows, maybe it’s different when your husband is a rock star. And besides, it’s not that I’m being too harsh on my children. In fact, Allison was supposed to do her laundry tonight, but instead I brought her here to play.”

Calla and Skye exchanged a quick glance and swiftly changed the subject. The truth was, they never found Edith’s company particularly enjoyable but, since their daughters were such good friends, they both had to occasionally suffer though it.

Meanwhile, the girls were having a grand time playing in Raina’s room. Charlie was never too fond of playing with dolls, but the three of them had come up with a convenient system. Riding a toy horse, Charlie usually took the role of the gigantic monster, from which Raina and Allison’s dolls were supposed to be saved. She occasionally took the role of the prince as well – whenever she got tired of riding.

Andrew, not wanting to participate in this game, had asked Raina if he could rummage through her bookcase. After he found something that interested him, he stated that he was very impressed with the collection of books she owned. And, having said that, he didn’t miss the chance to express his confusion on how on earth she was able to study or do anything really in that room which was too messy and too pink.

A little after the sun had set, all children returned to their homes. Raina searched for her grandmother to ask her for a bedtime story, something she very often enjoyed.

During the middle of the read, Raina’s eyes were covered in the familiar late hour glaze; it was a matter of minutes before she would be ready to sleep.

“Grandma… can you tell me the story of how you and grandpa met and fell in love?”

“Oh, don’t you like this story sweetie?”

“Oh, I do. But… I like yours better. It’s so romantic!”

After Rose was done reciting her love story with Jared for the hundrendth time – not that she minded, to be honest – Raina looked at her with her usual dreamy eyes. “You had such a romantic story with grandpa… when I grow older, I want to find someone who will love me as much as grandpa loves you!”

Rose smiled and gave her granddaughter a kiss. That girl was still so young, sweet and innocent, having yet no grasp of the evils in this world. Every day she prayed that little Raina’s life would be filled with magic and wonder, without a hint of sadness or dispair. Was that such an unattainable wish? She hoped that it wasn’t.

“I’m sure this someone is already on his way to you, my love… Goodnight, my sweet child.”

A/N: Aaaah, it’s finally here! The very first chapter of generation 3 AT LAST! And excuse me for being so excited and all, but I have been waiting for this moment since my first gen.2 procrastination, so you can bet it’s LONG enough! XD As you might have already noticed, I finally took the plunge and used contacts on my sims (albeit some very discreet ones – I figured I probably needed to take it slow lol), plus I started using an app which promised me that it would give my pictures the DOF effect that exists in so many pictures here lately and I was so jelly of. But Sempreviva, you might ask, why not just use ReShade and get it over with, easy peasy? Well, I’ll tell you why: I asked my crappy laptop, even begged it to give it one tiny try, like a mother asks her child to try beets for the hundrendth time, but the answer was always one: “Hell to the no!” So, I naturally did the next best thing: fake it till I make it :p Of course I could never fake that I have actual photography skills, but one must work with whatever they have I guess πŸ˜‰ And of course, I chose the official chapter pictures to try it for the first time… super smart move, right? XD I have no idea if I have overdone it with the blur (most pictures seem fine to me, but what do I know :p), so if you have any suggestions on how to improve them – you might even suggest that I toss them altogether, yeah I can take it πŸ˜₯ – please feel free to let me know! I hope I won’t take as long to publish the next chapter, as this delay was mainly due to a crapload of makeovers I had to go through… here’s hoping! Aaaand I’m gonna stop now, because this note is on the verge of being almost as long as the chapter itsself, and who would possibly read through that? XD Thank you so much for reading! ❀ ❀

  1. Yay, I’m so glad you’ve begun this! ❀ I enjoyed this little look into the family. I mentioned it for your OC Challenge, but I still love the fact that Skye and Jesse are sort of shabby parents. Raina is such a sweetheart – her and I both often think that novels we read lack in the romance department, lol. What can I say? I'm a sappy sap. πŸ™‚
I have a feeling that Edith and her kids are going to be relevant to the story later. She's quite the character, I have to say.
And those contacts are fantastic, especially on Calla. Loooove her big, green eyes. ❀ She's so pretty!
Your pictures are lovely. I especially love the one of the kids playing. With the butterflies on the wall, it looks pretty magical. πŸ™‚
This was great. I'm super excited to read more of this gen. ❀

    1. Yaaasss, it has finally begun!! πŸ˜€ I wanted to put so much more details and moments of the family in this chapter, but it was already getting too long, lol! Ah, we have all the time..! πŸ˜‰
You know, I also like that – I never pictured Skye and Jesse as model parents (even though they do love their daughter)!
Right? They almost always do!! πŸ˜€ Hehe, I was like that when I was a kid too; always daydreaming the first chance I got :p (imaginary fanfiction was my thing before I even discovered it actually existed, lmao!)
Hmmm you are totally right about Edith and the kids! In fact, we have already met Andrew here: https://semprevivasims3.wordpress.com/2019/02/01/updates-and-tags-and-moodboards-oh-my/
And the two very last moodboards of that post belong, in fact, to his sister Allison! So yeah, they’ll definitely make some more appearances in the story πŸ˜‰ Edith is… something else lmao, and that’s all I’m gonna say for now! πŸ™‚
I do like those contacts myself – the only bad thing is that I have absolutely zero clues where I got them from! *smh*
Thank you sooo much for reading and commenting! πŸ˜€ ❀ ❀

  2. I agree with everything Louise said! ❀ I'm so excited for generation 3! I think Raina is a little darling. I'm not so keen on Edith, but I love her kids. It's so neat seeing Skye as a mom even if she thinks she's less than great. πŸ™‚

I'm totally on board with the imaginary fanfiction before it was a thing. I was like that, too. haha

    1. Thank you so much Kym! ❀ I'm so glad you're excited – I kinda want to skip the childhood phase and move on to the interesting part quickly, but I have to be patient, lol!
I love those kids too! πŸ˜€ Hehe, the truth is that I am the one who has a little trouble picturing Skye and Jesse as parents, but I put the blame on them, lmaooo!
Yup, imaginary fanfiction was THE thing to do when I was at school or a family gathering, bored out of my mind! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  3. Happy first chapter on the Generation 3!!!

I can already see that is a hopeless romantic just like her grandma. And she has inherited her parents creative talents.
Each set of parents are a different and interesting dynamic. I can’t wait to see how they all play out, and what kind of impact they will have the kids.

    1. Thank you! πŸ˜€ ❀ Finally, this generation can begin..! You are so right, she is both creative and romantic and, to be honest, a little too in her own head. I hope she will be as interesting as I have imagined her!
Hmmm good observation. I guess each set of parents will have an impact, but one of them will play a bigger role concerning their offspring(s) πŸ˜‰

  4. I’m here. I’m sorry that I have been seemingly gone in the comments lately. I’ve been feeling so low I just couldn’t find the strength to comment anything… But, I’m here and trying to get back in the swing of things, instead of unhealthily alienating! ❀️
The beginning was so poetic, I really liked a look into Raina’s mind, and her vivid imagination… She’s such a dreamer.
I like how you blurred the background in the picture, so the focus is on the girl. It’s like she’s daydreaming and the background doesn’t matter anymore.
Like the others, I liked seeing Skye as the imperfect mom. I know you mention not knowing what to do about her and Jesse being parents, and yet I truly think it fits. Not everyone is born with the maternal instinct. I’m sure, though, Raina being so different will really fit the role of a mother perfectly. I can see her being very warm and loving not only to her future partner. She’s a lot like Rose, and growing up with her grandmother has had a huge impact on her already. I can also see Jesse’s absence impacting her…
I remember reading Andrew’s mood boards! Oh dear, could be he’s going to be Raina’s prince? I remember him as sarcastic, so I can definitely see how it’d be interesting met with Raina’s naivety and idealism.
I also liked seeing different family dynamics. Sadly, everyone’s seems to be rather problematic… Like Andrew noticed, not everyone’s fit to be a teacher, but then not everyone’s fit to be a parent either…
Rose’s dreams are so unrealistic, though. How can anyone’s life not be filled with at least a hint of sadness? That’s too much to ask, especially if evil writers are involved (not pointing fingers here…)!
I noticed the contacts, and I think they work well, especially on Cara.
I don’t think the DOF effect is too invasive, either.
It’s so exciting that you’re beginning gen 3 now!

    1. Oh man, I’m so sorry for such a late reply! I was away since Friday and my wp app never notified me for anything at all..! Well, I’m happy you are okay and I’m very sorry if I pried – what can I say? I get worried! :’) I think it’s very understandable that you needed a break though, and I hope you’re feeling better! ❀
Hehe, that's exactly the reason why I blurred the background a little more in that photo and I'm so happy you caught on to it πŸ˜‰ She is a big little dreamer πŸ™‚
I’m really excited too! You know, after a long time I am truly in the mood to write, so I think that’s something πŸ™‚ Thank you so much for your comment Jowita! ❀ ❀

    2. Ooops, I think WP ate a big chunk of my reply to you! What the heck?!
      I don’t remember exactly what I wrote, but I’ll try πŸ˜‰
Jesse’s absence clearly has already left a mark on poor Raina, you’re right… It’s not the ideal family setting, but at least Jared and – mostly – Rose are there!
I love your speculation about Andrew – unfortunately though I can’t say anything, hehe! >:D The only thing I’ll say – which I believe I’ve said it again before – is that I love him πŸ˜‰
And me, an evil writer?? I never had the guts to do something truly horrible to my characters tbh, but there’s always time, lmaoo!! Rose’s dreams are definitely unrealistic and she probably knows it, but eh. She’s a hopeless optimist and forever will be πŸ˜‰

  5. I cannot believe I almost missed this! I was going through my reader looking door another story and saw it! I love the way this is starting out, I’m so sorry that Skye isn’t maternal. But she is trying so hard. She obviously loves her daughter but doesn’t feel like a good parent. And of course Raina looks forward to her daddy coming home. He’s not here except to do fun things which probably hurts Skye even more. I hope she isn’t becoming jealous of his tours and his relationship with their daughter. 😒 I shipped them so hard! And I know he adores her, but she was so badly damaged it’s hard for her to be vulnerable. I’m sure she tries to control everything as much as possible. I hope this doesn’t bode badly for them.

Loved seeing Jared and Rose and the role they are playing in Raina’s young life and how much it helps Skye having them there. And I’m sure Calla is a godsend and a great ally for Skye. But Edith….OMG! What an awful person. Andrew is a piece of work and seems very precocious yet intelligent. As someone else said, I have a feeling he’s going to be Raina’s prince at some point. Hopeless Romantic that she is…..can’t wait for more!

    1. Oh, no worries!! I’m also sorry for my late reply, as I was away for the weekend and yesterday – so I’m very behind on the reader as well… but I’m back now and ready to catch up! πŸ˜‰
Skye definitely loves her daughter, buuut it just doesn’t come naturally for her. Plus, her husband is always away leaving her alone with her in-laws and her kid which – as wonderful as everyone might be – is not ideal… we’ll see how they cope soon!
Edith… uh oh. Talk about high maintenance. She’s a piece of work for sure. Unfortunately that’s not the last we’ll see of her.
Hmmm I guess we’ll have to just wait and see if this Andrew feeling is valid or not. But I’m not saying anything, haha!
Thank you so much for reading and commenting! ❀ ❀

      1. Being left alone with your in-laws is not ideal at all. I’m sure she misses him terribly. But he isn’t a cheater and won’t stray. He loves her very much….unless things are bad between them…I hope not! πŸ‘€

I figured Edith was around to stay! Lol….

        Liked by 1 person

        1. Nope, definitely not. I know I wouldn’t like it and my in-laws are wonderful people, haha!
Oh, he’s definitely not a cheater! So there’s still hope for them πŸ˜‰ ❀

  6. Ooo you’re already painting such a vivid picture of our new cast. From Raina and her dreamy opening (tbh i daydream ALL the time and ‘fix’ plots or whatever from books I don’t like lmao) to the judgy Edith. I like the solidarity between Skye and Calla when they’re facing her down, haha. We all know many people like Edith we have to somehow deal with…
I loved the blur! I think the only picture it didn’t quite work for was one of the first when Raina was sitting on the bed, as she seemed a little blurred to me too so there was no focus… but also, I don’t have the eye for photography either πŸ˜› maybe I just need glasses xD
I can’t wait to see them grow up! I’m sure poor Rose’s hopes that Raina’s life won’t have sadness and the like will be unfulfilled… this is a legacy after all πŸ˜›

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Oh I know, I do it all the time as well (which is funny because I think nobody in my family or close circle is like that, and I’m so happy that I’ve come to know all you lovely dreamy people here! πŸ™‚ )
Edith is not one of the greatest people, and I can promise we haven’t seen the last of her yet! πŸ˜‰
Oh, I totally get what you’re saying! I was one of my first attempts, so I think I overdid it with the blur. But I’m not changing it now – too lazy, lmaooo!
Well, let Rose hope – that’s all I’ll say. There’s no way Raina will escape this legacy unscathed, muahaha! 😈

  7. First of all I love the song you mentionned πŸ™‚ the Cranberries got a couple of hottest songs ever ^^ . She is a dreamer from I don’t know who maybe Skye’s and Rose? She is a sweet foodie from Rose and an easy boring with routine as the Frio’s.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Yeees, I love that song too! And I have at least one more from the Cranberries lined up for this generation πŸ˜‰
Raina is such a dreamer ❀ I think she was just born this way πŸ™‚ And yeah, as she has Frio blood in her she is definitely not good with routine, lol!

Raina is cute and that’s awesome how you came with new ideas with each generation maybe she’ll be a painter or a writer πŸ™‚

  8. I think it’s sad that Jesse and Skye let his parents do the majority of parenting for Raina. πŸ™ I guess Skye just doesn’t know what to do. She will probably be more interested in her daughter when she’s older. And Jesse wasn’t even there, so we don’t know how he interacts with Raina. That in itself probably says something about his parenting, though.

Raina seems like a sweet girl though. I’m glad she has Rose to look up to.

Andrew’s a little bit of a jerk, isn’t he? πŸ˜† And with his mom, I’m afraid how he might turn out, haha.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Yep, it’s very sad indeed… Both parents are in their own little world, especially Jesse. And you’re right that Skye doesn’t know what to do! It’s probably part her personality, part her upbringing.
Jesse is a very affectionate dad, but fairly absent nonetheless 😦
Lmao! He is! But somehow he’s not that bad either πŸ˜‰ Maybe a few years on his back might mellow him out… or not, haha!!

  9. Yay, I’m here and I’m super excited! I have to confess the title of your newest chapter had me confused for a second (I thought you re-posted πŸ˜†) But after reading your intro note on 3.01, I see you wisely decided to make these prologue chapters! Smart idea!
Now, onto the story~ First off, I have to commend your photography skills, these photos all look amazing! The playroom/Raina’s bedroom was especially lovely 😍 Such a bright and warm atmosphere to the shots, it could be the content itself that’s adding to that vibe as well ☺️ And I think the DOF effect is not overdone at all! Everything looks great to me πŸ˜€
To use Rose’s words, Raina is so sweet and innocent~ Already interested in romance from a young age I see, let’s hope she does not have her heart broken too many times. Andrew sounds like such an intelligent young man already, despite his age, haha. Edith does not appear to be that fun to be around, but looks like Skye and Calla will have to sacrifice some of their comfort for the sake of their kids, lol. It’s a good thing Raina has Rose around, it’ll help soften her out considering Skye is not that maternal and Jesse will be out and about most of the time. This was such a refreshing start ❀ Ready to see where this goes~

    1. Oh yay, I’m so happy to see you here! ❀ ^_^ Haha, I figured it would be kind of confusing, but it really bugged me to start the main story with 3.04, so I just had to do something! :p
Thank you so much!! I feel like I still have a looong way to go, but I'm quite satisfied with how the gen 3 pictures turn out to be, hehe! ^_^
She is really sweet ❀ I was a bit hesitant at first to use a hopeless romantic sim again (as I had already told Rose's story), but I think those two are quite different. We'll see πŸ™‚ And I love Andrew so much ❀
Oooh, Edith is one of those characters I love to hate, haha! We haven't seen the last of her, that's for sure!
Thank you! πŸ˜€ I am really excited about this story as well – finally, there's something I look forward to writing, lol!
Oh, and I looove your new avatar pic – so romantic!! πŸ˜€ ❀ ❀

  10. Wow, Raina has quite the lyrical imagination for such a young kid! Sounds like a writer in the making 😊 A hopeless romantic already, and so brightly optimistic β€” she seems like she’s in for a rocky journey because reality will be nowhere as easy or sweet as she imagines. I know a hopeless romantic in real life and they feel lack of romance/things not going the way they hope much more deeply, and I’m guessing that’s the same for Raina. Meanwhile I’m the opposite of a hopeless romantic so I just don’t care 🀣
I can really see the strong resemblance between her and Rose, who is clearly a very loving and sweet grandmother, such a cutie! Raina is getting super spoiled with all the delicious food from her baker grandma and chef grandpa!
It makes sense that both Jesse and Skye aren’t very… parental… parents, and I like how they haven’t suddenly changed out of character once having a kid. That’s a great realistic touch. Yikes about Jesse seeming not to spend that much time with his family though, it seems like a big argument brewing in the family…
I quite like Andrew and Allison (though definitely not their stuck up mother), despite Andrew being rather rude, he is an intelligent, logical kid and you know I like those characters, *cough* Bryce *cough* haha.
The blur on the pictures look nice as well, soft and pretty πŸ’• I’m not sure if this will be any help since you’re further ahead in the story, but I guess in terms of tips, for the picture that focuses on Edith but blurs out Skye, part of the room behind Edith is in focus even though it should be blurred. Editing apps are hard to get the blur ‘fitting’ around the point of focus though, the main reason I use Reshade for the blur is because of that accuracy. Boo to your computer!
What a great start to the generation ❀

    1. Thank you so much! ❀ I tried to make her sound quite lyrical, like you said (even though I'm definitely not that lyrical myself, so that was quite the strain lol) and I'm glad it panned out πŸ˜€
Yup, life is hard and Raina will eventually find out that not everything in life is easy or pleasant..!
It pained me a little to make Jesse and Skye a bit shitty as parents, but I couldn't see them suddenly transforming just because they had a kid. Fortunately Rose (and okay, Jared too XD) was there to take on the parental role πŸ™‚
Yessss I love characters like Andrew so much (that's why I already adore Mako too)! I was a bit bummed that I didn't get to show Bryce more – and that was one of the reasons why Andrew was born, lol πŸ˜‰ I really can't wait to get to show him more (I hope this week I'll be able to pop out one more chapter :') )
Ooooh yes, I just saw that! You are totally right! I think I'm getting better now and *I think* that I would be able to catch that mistake sooner… oh well! I'll join you: Boo to my computer!!! XD
Thank you so much for your lovely comment! ❀ ❀
